Walk in Jubilee Park

The Entrance to the park, this mosaic has suffered some cosmetic damage sadly and all the glass work has been broken. A reflection of our times, and the lack of resources and funding regarding park security and the old Parkie, or Park Keepers. 

 

Walk to your local park and discover what is happening, Spring sprung early in Jubilee Park and the crocus were in full bloom.

Over the last ten years, Jubilee Park has undergone many structural changes, the crocus beds are just one example of those changes.

The park has a playing field for children to enjoy organised foot ball matches, or just come to the park for a "kick-around"

The organised football matches are normally played on weekends and anyone can come along and cheer them on. We are really proud of our young footballers and they have impeccable manners.

Another structural change in the park was the laying down of several pathways and the planting of young trees. These trees are now flourishing and some look good enough to climb or hide treasures inside. 
There is nothing we enjoyed more than watching the saplings growing into fully fledged trees, filled with blossom and fruit.
Some of the trees produce a golden sap like amber, but its sap from the cherry trees, oozing out a golden resin that hardens like stone. Its not amber, though, perhaps in a few hundred years or more it will be harvested.

Some history and factual information about Jubilee Park. The school called Park View is still standing despite threats of closure and demolishing of the school.

Park view School is still standing, although there was talk of it closing, the swimming pool has gone though.

A project by Knowsley Council to have a wildflower meadow within the lower part of the park no longer exists, due to funding and lack of interests perhaps. 

The wildflower bed, did not survive restructuring of the park.

Fortunately the blossom trees at the edge of the park near Twig Lane continue to thrive.

Leaving the park wanted to share the afternoon sun and the beautiful sky scape, a golden sunset. 


I watch the sunset fading away,
Lighting the clouds with sleep.
And as the evening closes its eyes,
I feel your presence near me.
